When we have done silver leaf or gold leaf projects in the past, it has typically been applied to ceilings – but a recent designer challenged us to use silver leaf to create a unique wall finish!
Rather than the typical approach of applying a grid of leaf sheets for smooth, homogenous look – this designer wanted something completely different. First, with the leaf, they wanted a random pattern so the finish looked more mottled and less regular/consistent. Then, for the pattern – they wanted to create an undulating effect with a fade at the bottom – almost like the leaf was slowly pouring down the walls from the ceiling.
Working with the designer, we mapped out the undulating pattern – and then to get the look they wanted, we actually tore up the silver leaf sheets and applied many irregular, random shapes. The result gave them just what they were looking for!
